New Life Church
New Life Church is a new church plant in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. This new work began in March 2015 with ground work and small groups began to meet in the community this past summer. New Life’s vision is to lead people to experience new life in Christ. This will be done through building relationships and disciples through family groups. A major goal of New Life Church is to create a community of believers that will grow and experience their new life in Christ together while bringing others along in this journey. Our theme verse is 1 Corinthians 5:17!
Though Kailua-Kona is a beautiful place, it is a very spiritually dark place. Only 8% of the state of Hawaii claim Christianity. Kailua-Kona is a city of nearly 45,000 people, and we believe that only about 5,000 people are attending an evangelical church on any given Sunday. There is great need for new works to come along side of existing churches to band together to raise the banner of Christ over this city. We believe that Satan is currently waving the flag of victory over this city because of the presence of so much spiritual confusion. We know that God desires all of these people to come to know the Son and to spend an eternity with the Father in heaven. It is for this great darkness that God has called us to go and let His light shine through our lives as we love Christ, love others, and teach them to do the same!
Meet the Parks
Jay and April met in college and have been married for eleven years. Jay is from Oxford, Mississippi, and April is from Dexter, Missouri. They have two children, Jackson (7) and Mollie (4). They were both raised in Christian homes and are devoted followers of Christ. Jay has been in the ministry for ten years serving first as youth pastor and later as lead pastor. Jay attended college at Blue Mountain College and received his Bachelor's in Christian Ministry. He later attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Masters of Theological Studies in May of 2014.
They have loved Hawaii and its people since they first began going there on vacation over ten years ago. After realizing the Spiritual confusion of this land, God started a work in their lives and began to burden their hearts for the people. They are called to plant a church on the Big Island of Hawaii and are approved and supported church planters for the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Their heart is to plant their lives there serving and raising up natives of the islands to plant churches throughout the islands and surrounding lands to reach the lost of the Pacific Rim.
Jay holds a strong conviction that we are to work heartily for the Lord to fulfill the Great Commission given to us in Acts 1:8. The study of this passage began his realization that we have to go where there is a great need for the gospel among a perishing people and point them toward the saving grace of Jesus Christ. They moved to Kailua-Kona to plant New Life Church in March of 2015.

Our Heart for the Community
Jay and April have a heart for young families and especially children. They know what it is like to be raising children as young parents, because they are in this stage of life. They know it is tough and very challenging and because of this they recognnize that there is much need for a community of believers to lift and support each other in this crazy life. Reaching, encouraging, and lifting up families will always be vitally important to this Church. It is hard for them to imagine raising children in this world without Christ being the center of their marriage and family. Their focus on families will determine everything about the design of how this Church operates. This will include everything from our child care and their spiritual development to creating an environment for the parents to worship God in an undestracted way. Everything will be designed to reach families because we know the struggle. Life is challenging but you are not alone! We have a God that loves us and is there for us in our times of confusion in this overwhelming life. He offers a New Life to all who believe!
Families personally pursuing Christ and others!
The vision for planting New Life Church is to build relationships and trust on our community by serving others. This will be through serving in community groups, coaching soccer, volunteering at schools, and just meeting people in everyday places. The goal is to establish weekly life group gatherings throughout their community for hanging out, studying the Word, and encouragement. They launched a weekly Bible Study September 16th in their home. That Bible Study now averages well over twenty and often 30. New Life Church plans to launch weekly services on March 20th, 2016. They will begin meeting at Holualoa Elementary School on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. New Life Church desires to be a church that loves, encourages, and raises up new leaders that may someday plant new Churches to reach the lost. Come join us in this journey to glorfy God and bring others along for the ride.
